Our Vision

We are a New Thought Christian-based Unity church that teaches metaphysical principles and practical Christianity. We embrace diversity. We honor those of other spiritual pathways. We are an interfaith church based on the commonality we share that there is only one presence and one power in the universe, God the good, omnipotent, available to all of us.

Our Path

Evolving from a small group of people who met in Detroit nearly seventy years ago, Renaissance Unity is a spiritual community of members from diverse backgrounds, traditions and orientations. We are widely recognized as a vibrant resource center for spiritual enrichment and personal development. There are life-enhancing activities and learning experiences for all. Whether participating in programs offered during the week - classes, support groups, seminars, social events - or Sunday services, people find love, support, encouragement and fellowship.

Our Organization

The spiritual and educational needs of members receive top priority at Renaissance Unity. This is reflected in our unique organizational structure that supports the ministerial team in focusing on ministry. Utilizing a dynamic management model for large congregations, the ministerial team is responsible for spiritual direction and oversight of the church’s core services and the business operations are managed by a professional executive team. The Board of Trustees is responsible for ensuring that the ministerial and executive teams are working together in alignment with the mission, vision and values of the organization.

Core Services

SUNDAY WORSHIP EXPERIENCE is an opportunity for people to come together in a sacred community to celebrate the presence of God, to experience fellowship with others of like-mind and to give and receive support.

YOUTH & FAMILY MINISTRY provides children and teens the chance to learn spiritual practices and experience the presence of God. The ministry also offers fellowship and social opportunities for families.

CONGREGATIONAL CARE offers auxiliary services to congregants, from infants to seniors, during important events and circumstances in their lives, such as christenings, weddings, funerals, counseling, prayer support.

SPIRITUAL & EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS include dynamic seminars, metaphysical and progressive classes to help people deepen their spiritual studies and practice.

SMALL GROUPS are structured to offer personal and spiritual support, as well as fellowship in specific areas of interest or issues.

LARGE SOCIAL EVENTS are community-building events and a time to socialize with others within the congregation.

VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS provide opportunities to practice the spiritual principles of giving and receiving and create a personal investment in the ministry.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH programs extend a helping hand and support to community organizations, such as Red Cross Blood Drives, St. Leo’s Soup Kitchen and Gleaners.
