Child Care is available for evening classes, Monday through Thursday.  Please call (586) 353-2393 to reserve a space for your child(ren).  Suggested donation:  $5 per child and $10 per family.

MEETING MYSELF IN THE BIBLE

Instructor: Mary Highgate

Wednesdays: 5/7 to 5/28 (4 weeks) • Noon - 1:00 p.m.

Required Text: Bible

Class Preparation:Read I Samuel 17:4-50

 

Explore our relationship with the Bible in the past and present.  Practice using metaphysical interpretation as we discover how Bible stories and characters relate to our own lives.  Come into a greater awareness of the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

 

THE MATRIX

Instructors: Tim Murphy & Al Brown

Wednesdays: 5/7 to 5/28 (4 weeks) · 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

 

Students will be introduced to a step-by-step process designed to expand the boundaries of "normal waking consciousness."  Learn the science behind how your thoughts and emotions actually form your body and form your physical experience.

 

THE HOLY TRINITY

Instructor: Rose Cooper          

Thursdays:  5/22 to 6/5 (3 weeks) · 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Traditionally, Father, Son and Holy Spirit come to mind with mention of the Holy Trinity.  However, we can also view the Trinity from a metaphysical angle and, most importantly, apply the lesson of the Trinity to our daily lives.

WOMEN IN THE BIBLE – EXODUS THROUGH JUDGES

Instructor: Rev. Kelly Cooper

Thursdays: 5/1 to 5/29 (5 weeks) · 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Recommended Text: Bible

Class Preparation: Bring a notebook and pen or pencil.

This class is a metaphysical and historical exploration of the women in the books of Exodus through Judges.  Students will learn about the daily lives and customs of women in Biblical times and will explore the meaning of their stories in relation to modern life.

MOVING INTO WHOLENESS

Monday: 6/9 (1 week) • 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

 

Wholeness is your natural state.  The inner tendency towards wholeness is a part of you.  Because of this, your soul is using every experience in your life to move you forward in evolution.

 

 

TWELVE POWERS OF MAN*

Instructor: Karen Boland

Mondays: 6/2 to 6/30 (5 weeks) • 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Recommended Text: The Twelve Powers of Man by Charles Fillmore

 

Within every person are twelve powers that correspond to twelve

different aspects necessary for the inner unfoldment of Christ

Consciousness.  This class will teach how to identify these powers and to cultivate their development within ourselves.

 

 

THE WORLD ACCORDING TO SPARK: THE JOURNEY BEGINS

Instructor: Hiram W. Squires (“Sparkie”)

Wednesdays: 6/4 to 6/25 (4 weeks) • 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.

Recommended Reading:  Anything in the Unity Movement or related to spiritual healing

 

Participants will view a series of videotaped talks by Jack Boland on the “Four Cornerstones of Spiritual Healing,” which include:

forgiveness, unconditional love, total acceptance and non-judgment.  There will be an opportunity for lively discussion as directed by the interests of students in relation to the talk topics.

 

 

THE CONTINUUM OF ETERNAL LIFE

Instructor: Greg Barrette      

Monday: 5/5 (1 week) · 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Have you ever wondered what happens after death?  And even after that?  In this workshop, we will explore the on-goingness of our souls; where we have come from and where we are going.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF, TRUST IN GOD

Instructor: Marlene Green

Tuesdays: 4/1 to 5/13 (6 weeks; no class 4/29) · 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Students will gain an understanding of the power of their thoughts and minds to change their current reality and, as a result, will learn to accept responsibility for their decisions.  Focus will be on healing worthiness issues, building trust within and trusting in God to bring desired change into fruition.

 

DEVELOPMENT OF THE UNITY MOVEMENT*

Instructor: Rev. Marty Zabawar

Tuesdays: 4/8 to 5/6 (5 weeks) · 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Required Text: The Story of Unity by James Dillet Freeman

Class Preparation: Please read Chapters 1-4 before the first class.

Examine the development of the Unity movement as an institution and an idea.  Students will review the spiritual evolution of Charles and Myrtle Fillmore and their unique contributions and consciousness. We will also review the influence of Emma Curtis Hopkins and H. Emilie Cady on the development of the teachings; the emergence of Silent Unity and the field ministries, and the spiritual principles and mystical themes underlying the expansion of Unity’s work.

BIBLE ALIVE! - Ongoing

Instructor: Rev. Ron Scott

Tuesdays: 3/25 to 6/10 (first segment) · 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

We plan to experience the Bible in a new, exciting way – by proceeding each week to consider a segment of both the Old and New Testaments in sequence.  There will be a blending of historical background, metaphysical interpretation and ways to employ the powerful text to gain personal direction in our lives.  We’ll embrace the passages without a scheduled pace, but rather taking whatever time is needed to satisfy our mutual interest.

 

HEALING MEDITATION SERVICE

Instructor: Jane Hart

Tuesdays: Ongoing ·  7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

 

Support your spiritual journey by joining like-minded souls in a powerful group meditation experience. Jane Hart leads a mini-lesson followed by a silent meditation with background music.

ANGER MANAGEMENT

Instructor: Sally Walsh

Tuesdays: 6/10 to 7/15 (6 weeks) • 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Required Text: Anger Management Workbook ($10 materials fee will be collected at first class session)

 

A course designed to help you recognize your own anger and that of others.  It will help you discover where your anger comes from, how it is expressed, and how you can gain control over it.  Learn to choose which anger management techniques work best for you.

 

THE ART OF DELIBERATE CREATION

Instructor: Linda Fisher-Piccolo

Wednesdays: 6/11 to 7/23 (7 weeks) • 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.

Recommended Text: Any Abraham-Hicks Material

Class Preparation:  Bring a notepad and pen or pencil.

 

Attend this class to improve all areas of your life!  This progressive series includes Dr. Robert Anthony’s audio “The Secret of Deliberate Creation” and Abraham-Hicks supporting

principles/material, as well as the instructor’s guidance for practical application and class discussion.

 

INSPIRED VOLUNTEERING

Instructor: Amanda D. Davis

Sunday: 5/4 (1 week) · 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.

 

Gain a deeper understanding of how giving of your time and talents in service to God and others enriches your spiritual journey and enlivens your innermost being. You will have the opportunity to explore each volunteer department at Renaissance Unity in depth. A guided meditation will be available at the end of class for those who wish to explore the deeper calling of their heart.

 

ADVANCED ATTITUDINAL HEALING: AWAKENING TO LOVE – CREATING INNER PEACE

Instructor: Laurie Pappas          

Tuesdays:  5/6 to 5/27 (4 weeks) · 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Class Preparation: It would be helpful for students to have completed Introduction to Attitudinal Healing; however, it is not required. 

A practical application of the principles of Attitudinal Healing, including: understanding the parts of the mind and how they work, as well as instruction in meditation, affirmation, surrender, prayer and contemplation.  Final focus will be on advanced forgiveness.

FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY*

Wednesdays: 2/13 to 5/7 (13 weeks)

 

Financial Peace University consists of a 13-week video curriculum taught by financial expert Dave Ramsey that incorporates small-group discussions to encourage accountability and discipleship. This is a life-changing program that teaches you how to make the right decisions with your money. You'll be empowered with the practical skills and confidence needed to achieve your financial goals and experience true financial peace.

 

 Health and Wellness

 

SANSKRIT CHANTING

Instructor: Ania Kopczynski

Thursdays: (On-going) · 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Experience the bliss of chanting the ancient language of Sanskrit. Chant for protection, health and inner peace. 

KUNDALINI YOGA

Instructor: Yvette Cobb

Saturdays: On-going  · 1:30 – 3:00 p.m.

Class Preparation: Wear loose, comfortable clothing.  Bring a mat or towel and a sheet. 

Students will use exercise, sound current, breath and meditation to experience a vigorous yoga workout. Students will awaken the Kundalini energy stored at the base of the spine, clear and calm the mind and become more flexible.

HATHA YOGA 

Instructor: Tom King

Mondays: Ongoing · 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. or

Thursdays: Ongoing · 8:30 – 10:00 a.m.

Note: Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Bring a blanket and mat.

 

Learn techniques of stretching, relaxation, concentration, meditation, breathing and movement. This is an on-going class that students may join at any time.

 

NIA TECHNIQUE - Ongoing

Instructor: Anita Lee

Thursdays: Ongoing · 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Note: Wear loose, comfortable clothing.

Nia – an elegant alternative to traditional aerobics. Nia entices the mind to play, the body to feel, and the spirit to soar.
